Turn up your volume and listen to my tunes..wooooof!

I am dog. I believe in unconditional love. I do not settle for infatuation or puppy love. I believe in true love to the end. I am a life-long lover who will lie at your feet, on the bed, by your chair, at your side. I am dog. I insist on your love. I will stay on a grave of a lover until my end. I believe in commitment. When we have chosen each other, I will be there for you with plenty. Out of my heart flows life and love. You fill my life with abundance and I am fulfilled. Unconditional love is the highest gift. I am committed to love.

What have I been up to....

Kirby here-

Well what a week for me! I started with another ear infection...yuck! So mom got some ear ointment stuff from the vet and has to put it in my ear twice a day! Boy do I hate that, but it is helping my ear. This is my second one in almost 2 months so mom is hoping it isn't going to be a reoccuring issue with me...me too!

Well I am doing pretty good with the "drop it command." Mom and I practice it every chance we get and since I play alot with her it is a lot of fun. Not only do I chase my toys then I get a yummy treat! What a life!

As far as my other issue with barking at dogs when I'm out walking, well it's a little better but mom says I have a way to go with it. We start obedience in a few weeks, so she says she hopes this will help me...I keep telling her I just have a lot to say!

My mom is always impressed when she comes home, because I have been a good boy all day! The only thing I do is mess around with the couch pillows and the blanket she tries to keep on the couch for me. However, she left something on the table by the couch that I just couldn't resist trying to eat:
My mom had a snack the night before and forgot to pick up the napkin! What can I say, I am opportunist! Don't I look pitifully sorry here! Mom wasn't mad at me, she just said, "Kirby you are training me well!" I knew I was really smart!

I also went to the groomer's today. I once again was a very good boy, so good in fact I got a new treat to try: a rawhide chewie! They had some in a bowl there just for us good boys! So mom took one home for me to try. At first I just checked it out...kind of interesting:

Okay let's try it!

So did I like it???....YUMMY!!!!

Yeah...I have a good life! Thanks Mom!!!!

Got some more chewing to do....

Kirby's trick...or in his words TREAT TORTURE!!!

Kirby's mom here-
I'm so proud of Kirby! Watch him wait for his treat...he does it for 45 seconds!

Way to go Kirby! I love you!

Love,

Kirby's very proud Mom!

My week in review

Kirby here-

Well, not sure what has been up with my mom, not letting me blog, but I will forgive her because look at my new toy:
Yes, it is my very own Chilly Bone. It is a really neat toy...you get it wet and then put it in a bag and stick it in the freezer, in less than an hour you have a very cool chew toy! Me and my mom have fun with it too:Really, I don't chew it for very long. I really prefer the puzzle pieces at Scooter's house, but mom keeps telling me that wood really isn't good for my tummy...and that Scooter's little person would be very unhappy with me.

It was so hot here this week and it rained and stormed some, so we got rained on on some of our walks...my mom (thank goodness) was very neglectful and forgot to take pictures of me! One picture of me out there after a rainstorm is enough! WOOF!

Mom helped at an adopt a thon yesterday. She said she hooked up with a very tiny little Chihauha. His name was Sonny as he was blonde and white. It looks like he is probably going to get adopted because he found a very nice lady and then proceeded to fall asleep in her lap as she rubbed his ears...yeah, we shelter dogs know how to work the system! Mom said they also had a 10 year old Jack Russell named Jess, very cute and Freddy the little beagle pup who still hasn't been adopted. There was also a big shepherd hound mix named Melvin who my mom said was a lot of fun. She found out that three of the dogs from the last adopt a thon were adopted! YEAH! One of them was Phoenix, a pit lab mix who had been at the shelter for almost a year!

An update on my training...still doing pretty good with the basics but mom has added a new one today...drop it! It's pretty cool actually. You see I have a toy in my mouth and usually she tries to tug it out saying all these things like leave it, drop it ..blah blah... and of course I'm not going to do that! But then she puts her hand in her pocket and pulls out a treat, well of course I'm going to drop it...what dog wouldn't! Mom said I'm doing pretty awesome with it! We have to work also on my "mouthiness...I kind of like to go after hands" so more new words have been added "leave it." I have been doing okay with that. I am also having issues barking at other dogs when we are out walking. Mom calls them issues, I don't look at them as issues, more like, I just have stuff to say, like "back off dude this is my mom!" Anyways, I heard it involves treats and so far this weekend she puts these treats in her pocket before we go on a walk...but I haven't gotten any yet because I haven't run across any "issues!" Apparently though, we are going to walk at the park tonight so my chances of issues and treats are pretty good!

Well here is another picture of me being handsome!

Rainy morning

Kirby here-

Well, I have been here over a whole month now! Every morning my mom and I have been out for a walk before she goes to work and it has been beautiful weather! Yesterday morning however, a thunderstorm woke us up before the alarm clock went off. So mom said let's get up and get me outside before it really started storming. I went out and did my business and then we went back in for breakfast, mom told me not to worry she was sure the rain would stop by our walk time. Well guess what? She was right! We started our walk and it was just sprinkling and it was clearing up so mom said let's go!

Well we got half way out on our walk and it POURED! Not only did I get drenched, but my mom was in her work clothes too...but had a jacket on. We hurried up and got back to the house and mom got my towel out and dried me off...she just had to get a picture:

OMD! I can't believe she took this picture...look how my hair is sticking up, don't I look totally humiliated! Well, the good thing is, is that my fur dries really fast and then I go back to looking like totally handsome Kirby:

Well, the good thing was that since we walked super fast through our walk we had even more time to play with all my toys! Rainy days don't get ME down (unless my mom decides I need a rain coat)!

Ollie's house

Kirby here!
Last night my mom and I went to Ollie's house for the first time! Here is a picture of Ollie:
He's a lot of fun and has a lot of energy like me. Ollie is a Maltese and Shih-Tzu mix and is about 4 years old! At first he wasn't too sure about me, I still have a lot of puppy in me. But we soon found out that we both like chasing balls, especially tennis balls! So we had fun chasing them together and then taking them from each other. One thing Ollie likes to do is pull his bed from his crate...look what my mom did to him:
OH MY DOG! Doesn't he look totally humiliated! Then my mom tried to put it on me, well I would have none of that! I got it off so fast my mom couldn't get my picture with it on me (hee hee woof!). Hopefully my mom won't do that to Ollie anymore...doesn't she realize that beds are made to be laid on?? Ollie and I then went for a walk to together which also was lots of fun.

My mom tried to get a picture of us together, but we wouldn't sit still long enough...here are a few she did manage to get of us kind of together:

This is Ollie's "runway" for chasing tennis balls....how cool is that! It was so much fun!

Here we are resting after chasing the tennis ball down the "runway." Ollie is a super cool dude and I can't wait to play with him again!

I met the kids and my other aunt!

Well, this past Monday I got to meet my Aunt Lori (mom's twin sister), and Emily, Tyler and Claire! All I can say is "woof! what fun they are!" They totally loved playing with me and my toys!
They would throw it and then try to take it away from me:

Here are some more pics of me and my new buds:

Those kids were so much fun! Mom said they will be back...I can't wait. I also met my Aunt Lori, she is so much like my mom...I really like her:

She knew exactly how I liked my ear rubbed and also loved to play with my toys!

Then we all went to Scooter's house for a birthday celebration! All the kids were there and Scooter! I also met my mom's grandpa (it was his birthday) and her aunt. My mom has the nicest people in her life and they all love dogs! It was a very warm day and the kids decided to go swimming, I decided it was time for me to rest:I had a lot of fun and met a lot of nice new people! Apparently, Aunt Lori and the kids have a dog named Dillion, that I will get to meet soon too! Woof!

Staying cool in the hot weather,

My Fourth Of July Weekend!

Well this past weekend was my first Fourth of July with my new mom! It actually was kind of uneventful, it was very hot!

I did get to go to the pet store with my mom! She said I was such a good boy (well of course!) I must have really been good because look at the toy she got me:

I also got to go to Scooter's house! What a cool house she has inside too! She has all these toys laying around although that she is not allowed to play with them. This is because, as I found out, they are not hers, they are her little person's toys! My mom said that puzzle pieces and pooh bears are really not toys for dogs...well I beg to differ but I will listen to my mom!

My mom volunteered at an adopt-a-thon this weekend too! She told me she was going to go and help my dog shelter friends find good homes. She said they had four dogs there today, an American Staffordshire Terrier (Pit Bull) named Flora, a pitt bull lab mix named Phoenix, a golden lab golden retriever mix named Sam and a little beagle puppy named Freddy! It looks like Flora just may have found herself a good home! Woof!! Do you want to know what my mom does at adopt-a-thons...she just loves the dogs. She sits there and pets them, walks them, helps them learn some basic obedience and brags to people about how wonderful these dogs are! She said while she was there she helped Sam learn to "heel" and "down." We shelter dogs are so smart!!!

My mom also thought it would be fun to get a picture of me with all my toys! Now, I have to admit, I am the most spoiled dog when it comes to toys. However, it's angel Max that I have to thank for them. Mom said that angel Max was on a special diet for his bladder stones, so he very rarely got any treats for birthdays or holidays. So he got toys! Boy did he ever check this stash out:

My mom did get me a new tennis ball and the frisbee thing, but otherwise these were all Max's toys! Some of the toys mom had to put up because I pull their fur off and try to eat it. Most of my beds were also Max's. I have a bed in every room (including the hallway!) can you believe that! Angel Max said I was really going to like it here...he was right! Also (as angel Max has warned me), mom saved all his sweaters! Max said, when it starts to get cold she is going to bring them out so just get ready to roll with it! He said they will at least make you look handsome and will keep you warm. Okay, Max, I will suck it up and wear them!

I also got to go back to the cool park last night. It was so hot here and where we live we don't have much shade to walk in, but the park sure does! I was so excited to go there again and check up on my pee-mail!

Well, today I am also meeting a lot of new people! My mom's sister and three kids and and aunt and a grandpa are visiting today! I will post about this new adventure later! Apparently the kids have a lot of energy and I need to get my rest!

Weekend in review...

Mosquito Patrol!
Kirby here-

Last night we had a pesky mosquito in the bedroom. Actually, he followed mom from the bathroom. Mom was swatting her head then pulled her nightshirt up over her ears. She looked pretty funny so I came up to the pillows to investigate. I laid down next to her. We were both starting to fall asleep when all of a sudden it buzzed my ears, so like a good dog, I tried to catch it...with my mouth. "Snap!" "Snap!" My mom then started to giggle and reached over and turned the light on. She then told me not to move, apparently the mosquito was on my back. She tried to get off without hitting me but it flew, she knocked it down off of the bed and disappeared. We sat up in bed for a few more minutes and waited for the buzzing to return. It never did. Mom patted my head and said "good boy, Kirby! Thanks for the laughs!" Apprently catching mosquitos, a quite serious task for myself, my mom finds quite funny! Well, if momma is happy than Kirby is happy!

Sorry we have no pics of the nasty mosquito...mom doesn't put her camera by the bed (honestly I don't know why, she seems to have it everywhere with her otherwise!)

Back to mosquito patrol!

Doggy Torture!
Kirby here-
Okay, angel Max warned me about this device that mom brings out every once in awile at dinner time. He told me that mom calls it a grill, he informed me that it is actually a doggy torture device. Apparently she cooks really yummy meats on it and then doesn't give you any....See the picture below...see the torture I'm going through...

She actually has three steaks on that grill. I heard her say, "one for dinner tonight, one for lunch tomorrow, maybe in a tortilla and then one for dinner tomorrow night." Excuse me...what about ME..you know the little dog with the pathetic ear....Angel Max warned me, that the pathetic look doesn't work with our mom, but I had to try...wouldn't YOU give me a steak? Hmm...I even tried praying..

Well, even in the end I didn't get any. Mom said something about my tummy still needing to get used to my new food and that maybe next time she would give me some.....well, that will give me a chance to work on my pathetic look!

New Adventure!

Kirby here-

Well, to make up for not giving me a piece of steak (I think she felt kind of guilty), mom took me in the car to a new park. Look how excited I got in the car:

Oh my dog! Was this the coolest park ever! Look at this walkway:

As we walked down the walkway I got to say hi to a lot of dogs and smell so many smells that my mom said, "Kirby you are going nuts on me!" She wasn't being mean, she was laughing because I was just enjoying myself so much! There was this really cool bridge too with lots of water running under it:

Also, they have these posts like every 4 feet around the park and the trail...great places to leave pee-mail:
Mom and I had to come to an understanding on the posts, because there were so many! So every once in a while she said, "go ahead Kirby," and I'd get my chance!

It was a cool new adventure that my mom took me on and she said we will go back soon...maybe even this week since it's supposed to be a lot cooler too! I can't wait.

Well, such an adventure totally wipes me out, so now it's Sunday evening and I'm going to do one of my favorite pastimes:

I met Ollie tonight!!

Kirby here-

Wow! My mom suprised me tonight with a ride in the car (which I get so excited about) and took me to a park in town! We walked around for a little bit so I could do my smelling thing and then my grandpa and grandma pulled up... with Ollie! I was really excited to meet him and he was really excited to meet me too. So we all went for a little walk together then stood under some trees where my mom talked to her mom and dad. Ollie and I just sat there looking handsome:

They all agreed that they think we will get along well together so we will probably go on a few more walks with each other...WOOF! I can't wait! I know my grandpa and grandma read my blog so tell Ollie I loved meeting him today and I can't wait till our next walk!

Till the next adventure

Kirby's been here 2 weeks!

Kirby's Mom here-

Well, Kirby's been here two weeks already! He seems to be adjusting pretty good too! He no longer cries and barks when I leave, in fact he will run up the stairs and look out my living room window and to watch me leave. Here are some things I've learned about Kirby in these two weeks:

He knows sit and stay.
He walks pretty good on a leash.
Loves to rearrange bed pillows and blankets.
Loves to sleep on my bed.
Is not afraid of thunderstorms.
Very easy to train..has learned down and roll over!!
Loves to eat.
Loves to look out the window.
Loves to see me come home!

Kirby here-

Well I have been here two whole weeks! Boy what an adventure for me, getting used to a new mom and a new place, which I have to admit once I've gotten used to is pretty nice! Here are some things I've learned in the past two weeks about my new mom:

Loves to make me do things so I get treats!
Loves to leave me a treat ball rolly thing when she leaves.
Loves to take me for walks (2 long ones and 1 short one every day)!
Loves to brush my handsome fur.
Loves to lay in bed at night and pet me...I love bedtime!
Loves to throw my tennis balls and toys for me.
Is always telling me I'm a good boy...does she know this could go to my head?
Loves to take me to new places.
Loves to come home to ME!

I have heard my mom tell me that this is my home now, forever, I am so glad! She smiles and laughs at me too...I really like that!

Sharing a picture with you of Kirby....
